Tips for…
Life at home – Cooking

To stop me forgetting food in the oven or microwave, we always leave their doors open when not in use.

I use a halogen oven. It’s transparent and has a timer.

Have all your ingredients ready to hand before you start – then move them to the other side when you’ve used them.

Print off the instructions for cooking, or your recipe, and tick off as you add ingredients / stages of cooking.

If you make dinner for yourself, try to make 2 or 3 at a time and freeze them. You may not feel like cooking some days.

Timers can be used to remind you to turn off appliances, such as the oven or iron. This can prevent fire hazards.(Read ‘Dementia and Self-Management’ booklet here).
