Life at home – Your partner and family

I found Christmas very hard this year. I was very confused through it all. I wasn’t stressed, but I was so confused, not knowing what I was doing. And I’ve said I’m not doing it next year. I’ve noticed a change in myself, how I wasn’t coping, and so I’ve decided – if I can’t do it, I’ll let someone else do it instead. I was quite worried and got quite scared about what was happening to me. (Listen to Glenda Roberts’ Dementia Diary here).

You can defuse a situation by saying “Sorry, I must have forgotten”.

Don’t be afraid to talk to those close to you. Listen too – what do they want to ask?

Ask your family to get your attention before they speak to you. And to be looking at you, and you at them.

Keep investing in your key relationship(s) to keep the spark alive.

Don’t put everything on your care partner. Trust others too.
